As humans we are wired to be both nostalgic and forward-looking when things end. Even if it is just a made up date, the turn of the year produces such thoughts in us. Fancying myself a forecaster, I cannot help myself and spend a lot of time on the latter.
This year the exercise is notoriously difficult as evident eg. by the recent discussion on H1-B immigration. We are looking at a change in the US administration and the people that collectively made it happen are now at their throats.
Additionally, long-term forecasting is difficult by itself. The longer the timeframe, the less accurate we can be. In a probabilistic world, each wrong assumption creates a compounding effect, often rendering the whole forecast useless.
But I am not the one to shy away from a challenge. I have been collecting my thoughts on the future in the last few weeks to compile them into the list of my 10 predictions for 2025. In no particular order, but all with underlying rationale, below are my high-level, directional takes on the future of the world.
1. AI Will Hit A Roadblock
I am starting with a bang. While everyone and their mother are bullish on AI, I am seeing the first signs of the local top being in.
