Kingmakers, Powerbrokers or Masters of Puppets - our history is riddled with controversial figures who despite operating in the shadows, had an outsized influence on power. From Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, who inspired the character of the Littlefinger in Game of Thrones, to Robert Moses whose extensive biography won a Pulitzer prize, each period and region has histories and legends of characters wielding an uncanny influence over the respective power structures.
It is only logical that we shall have a similar figure worthy of our times. In the age of seamless communication and exchange of information the rules of the game have changed, but the underlying principle remains the same.
With attention as currency shadows are no more. The Kingmaker of our times operates in the open, using democracy to his advantage. Wielding social media as his weapon, his influence goes bottoms-up, reaching the very top of not only regional, but global power structures.
Today we will go on a journey spanning a decade that made Elon Musk the man he is today - hardly an entrepreneur, but rather The Kingmaker.
